As we come to the end of another fantastic summer of music, Thredbo is excited to announce the return of their annual Jazz Festival. Back for its 29th year from 29th April – 1st May 2016, the three day celebration of exceptional music, great food and wine, and endless dancing is going to take over Thredbo, in the heart of the picturesque Snowy Mountains. This year the Jazz line-up features over 18 incredible acts that will play in many different village and mountain venues.
George Golla
This year, legendary jazz guitarist George Golla will be joined by star singer Jackie Cooper for that long awaited spectacle, “Lunch with a Legend”. Included in this rare experience, George will regale fans with quite a few stories, whilst playing the background music fans have learned to know and love.
Thredbo is additionally proud to give star of X-Factor Australia, Mahalia Simpson, performing in the mountains for initially. Joining these artists at stake-up is a long list of acts, including Jazz artists Nairobi Trio and Dixie Street All Stars plus internationally acclaimed Hammond organ maestro and vocalist Clayton Doley, the ever-popular Psycho Zydeco and the swinging roots sounds with the Big Ol Bus Band.
Taking music lovers on a musical journey, the boutique festival will showcase all branches of jazz from traditional through modern, experimental through extraordinary, big bands through small bands, soloists plus additional genres including blues and roots. This coming years event intentions to deliver music aficionados a memorable weekend, using the stars of Australian Jazz being released to shine inside the intimacy of Thredbo’s venues.
Through the festival, performances will occur in alpine bars, cosy restaurants, a nightclub, in the outdoors Village Square as well as at the top of the Kosciuszko Express Chairlift!
